What's included with your installation (and what isn't)

Modified on Wed, 20 Nov, 2024 at 8:37 PM

This article covers what we include in our standard installation package and what else we can provide for an additional fee.

What's included?

As standard, your installation will include:

  • Connecting your inverter or gateway to your home Wi-Fi network. To help you get the most out of your new system, your installer will connect your inverter or gateway to your home Wi-Fi network. This will allow you to access its monitoring portal or app so you can see how it’s performing.

  • An Installation service warranty. As standard, all installations include a warranty that covers the work of installers directly involved in the installation of the system

  • Product warranty management. To simplify things for you, we manage the product warranties for your system as your single point of contact. This means that if something goes wrong, you can always come to us, regardless of the hardware manufacturer. You can read more about this in our article, How do UPowr warranties work?

In addition, your quote includes links to product warranties and data sheets that outline your hardware’s performance specifications and limitations. For more information, see the Wattle Powr Sale and Installation Agreement Terms and Conditions.

What's not included?

These items aren't included in your installation package, however, we can provide them at an additional cost.

  • A solar consumption monitor

  • Extended manufacturer warranties

  • An ethernet connection or Wi-Fi dongle. This is needed when your inverter or gateway cannot connect to your home Wi-Fi. For more information about this, see Connecting your system to the Internet.

What about upgrades to my existing energy system?

To install your new system, we may need to upgrade your home's existing energy system. For example, if you have an old switchboard, we may need to upgrade it to make it safe and fit for purpose. Or, if you're installing a very large system, we may need to upgrade you to 3-phase power.

These variations aren't part of our standard installation package and come at an additional cost. If we identify that an upgrade is required, we'll let you know as soon as possible.

What about battery backup power?

If your system includes a battery, backup power may be included in your installation. Whether it is will depend on the battery's make and model. For example, the Tesla Powerwall comes with a 'whole-of-home backup', while backup power might be an additional cost for other batteries.
